Detailed Primary research

The Transformers Age of Extinction was successful in my opinion because it was able to market to a wide audience and made a lot of money for the producers. Due to Transformers recognition as one of the most known toy and cartoon series, the film was able to cater to an audience that either watched or played with transformers from a young age and developed a relationship with the series. The film also made $1.1 billion in the box office, its budget was $210 million.

The films director was Michael Bay, infamously known for over editing movies with action scenes.
film distributor is responsible for the marketing of a film. The distribution company is usually different from the production company. Distribution deals are an important part of financing a film.

If a production company has major funding either through earnings, studio investors, or private investors, and has done or been involved with big budget productions in the past, it is considered to be a major production company. These companies often work with well-known and expensive talent.

The film was very quickly bombarded with negative reviews and ratings as soon as it released. Rotten Tomatoes gave it 18%, even though 52% of people enjoyed the film and rated it negatively. Metacritic also gave it 32%. Some reviews included "Well, this is another overlong and over-the-top action extravaganza from Bay about the cars that turn into robots."

Synopsis: Autobots must escape sight from a bounty hunter who has taken control of the human serendipity: Unexpectedly, Optimus Prime and his remaining gang turn to a mechanic, his daughter, and her back street racing boyfriend for help. IMBD

Some of the actors in the film include Mark Wahlberg. He acts as the main character who finds Optimus Prime and helps him find the other autobots. He was most likely chosen for this role due to his massive popularity. The other actors include Nicola Peltz and Jack Reynor, who are both quite new to the big screen acting. None of these actors show much enthusiasm in acting alongside CGI robots. Michael Bay's has become infamous for taking known films and making them in a way that their only purpose is to make an interesting trailer and to sell it.

 Budget: $210,000,000 (estimated)
Opening Weekend: $100,038,390 (USA)
Gross: $245,428,137 (USA) (3 October 2014)
Release Date(s) 27th June 2014 (US)

In the films opening weekend it wasn't able to break even on its budget. Compared to another famous film franchise like Star Wars The Force Awakens which made $529 million in its first weekend, and Star Wars: Rogue One which made $155.5 million in its weekend.

Production company: Paramount Pictures

Distributors: Paramount Pictures   Paramount Home Entertainment

Some of the reviews Transformers Age of Extinction received from Rotten Tomatoes, a popular public film reviewing website, include:
"The few authentic inspirations to be found in the movie's hundred and sixty-five roiling minutes involve gigantic science-fiction contrivances." Richard Brody from the New Yorker
"Well, this is another overlong and over-the-top action extravaganza from Bay about the cars that turn into robots." Peter Bradshaw from the Guardian

To anyone who hasn't seen this film it can be easily explained as a box full of explosions with some product placements from China stuffed with massive boring robots that Michael Bay packed with dynamite and stuffed down the consumers throats, its a film that isn't recommended to anyone over the mental age of 8 and should be avoided by anyone who has taste in acting and actual stories.
